Semaglutide Weight Loss

Key Benefits

Increased Metabolism: Metabolism, how the body breaks down food into energy, can slow down due factors such as age, genetics, inactivity and excess consumption. Semaglutide increases sugar metabolism through GLP-1 receptor agonists.
Reduced Appetite: Semaglutide injections reduce appetite and tend to improve eating habits by slowing down food leaving your stomach
Lower Blood Sugar: Along with metabolism, reduces high blood sugar through pancreatic and liver control
Satiated Stomach: Creates a “full” feeling after eating leading to reduced food cravings and late night snacking
Stop/Start: Continue as long as you think it’s helpful. Restart if weight returns.
B12 Boost: Formulated with vitamin B12 to boost brain functions, and reduce osteoporosis and depression. B12 injections may also increase energy levels and help with weight loss and mood. This is important if you are vegan and don’t supplement your diet.

About Semaglutide

Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide receptor antogonist which improves glycemic control in the pancreas. Semaglutide will delay gastric emptying by reducing glucogon secretion which reduces appetite, lowers sugar cravings and improves overall ability to control eating habits.

The New England Journal of Medicine conducted a study of over 1900 adults to identify if Semaglutide would actually help in weight loss, and by how much. The participants lost an average of 14.9% in body weight, without a special diet, without an exercise routine, and without additional medication. These results show that without much effort, taking Semaglutide one time per week can have favorable results for just about anyone. Additional benefits of taking Semaglutide weekly was also shown to improve cardiometabolic health, which includes a reduction in insulin resistance and a reduction in metabolic disorder and less risk for cardiovascular disease.

Semaglutide is FDA approved for Type 2 diabetes for weight management and is being used to help the disease’s growth and progression. Although Semaglutide is not a “lose a pound a day” weight loss miracle as we see daily on advertisements, it is a safe and proven method to losing weight and improving our metabolic health.

What to Expect

An initial consultation with the Provider is required. You may not take semaglutide if you are pregnant, have a personal history of pancreatitis, or a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or multiple endocrine neoplasia 2A or 2B.

During the consultation, the provider will review your medical history and explain how to administer the injection via the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm once weekly.

After 4 weeks, the dose is increased as tolerated to the maximum effective dose (not more than 2.5mg). If dose escalation is not tolerated due to side effects (eg, nausea, vomiting), the increase in dose can be delayed by another four weeks. Thereafter, the continuation of the maximum tolerated dose will be maintained until the weight loss goal has been achieved.
