About Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is a non-invasive and highly effective physical exfoliation procedure that has gained popularity for its ability to reveal smoother, more youthful-looking skin. It requires the use of a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently “shave” the skin’s surface, removing the top-most layer of dead skin. The physical exfoliation triggers the cell regeneration process and allows products to better penetrate skin, such as a light chemical peel. Dermaplaning is also excellent to rid the face of excess fine hairs which can often accumulate dirt and oil.
Additional benefits include reduction of fine lines, visible acne scars, and dark spots. Dermaplaning is recommended for all skin types and is a great treatment if you are pregnant or nursing and want exfoliation without the risk of harsh chemicals.
Dermaplaning is performed using a sterile surgical scalpel, which is gently glided over the skin’s surface. The scalpel’s fine blade gently removes dead skin cells, peach fuzz (vellus hair), and other impurities from the skin’s topmost layers. This precise and controlled exfoliation process uncovers the healthier, smoother skin underneath, resulting in a revitalized and luminous complexion.
